Wellman/Corns Deed, 1859 FLEMMON WELLMAN} TO } DEED JAMES CORNS } This deed made this sixth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine between Flemmon Wellman & Nancy his wife of the first part of the County of Wayne and State of Virginia and James Corns of Pittsburg Pennsylvania of the second part. Witnesseth, that in consideration of six hundred and twenty five dollars in hand paid to the said party of the first part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Flemmon Wellman and Nancy his wife doth grant unto the said James Corns and his heirs and assigns all the following tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Wayne and State of Virginia and described as follows to wit: On the East side of Twelve Pole River Beginning at a dogwood corner in a low gap, one of Duvals old corners, thence running with Reuben Adkins supposed line to a white oak & gum marked on the bank of 12 pole river just below the mouth of the first branch above the said improvement thence running with the meanders of 12 pole until the said Duvals line crosses the said 12 pole thence with said line to the beginning supposed to contain one hundred acres be the same more or less, it being the same tract of land on which the said Flemmon Wellman now resides == And the said Flemmon Wellman hereby covenants with the said James Corns to Warrant Generally the land hereby conveyed. In testimony whereof the said Flemmon Wellman & Nancy his wife have hereunto set their hands & seals the date first herein written. Attest Flemmon X(his mark) Wellman {seal} J. C. Wheeler a Notary Public in & for the said County and State of Virginia do hereby certify that Flemmon Wellman whose name is signed to the writing above bearing date on the 6th day of Sept. 1859 has acknowledged the same before me in my county aforesaid --- And I do further certify that Nancy Wellman the wife of said Flemmon Wellman whose name is also signed to the above instrument of writing personally appeared before me in the county aforesaid, and being examined by me privily and apart from here husband, and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Nancy Wellman acknowledged the said writing to be her act and declared that she had willingly executed the same and does not wish to retract it.
