Corns/Corns Deed, 1861 JAMES CORNS, SR. & WIFE TO DEED JAMES M. CORNS This deed made this 15th day of January in the year 1861 between James Corns and Jane his wife of the County (of the County sic.) of Wayne and State of Virginia of the first part and James M. Corns of the County and State aforesaid of the other part and in consideration of the sum of one dollar in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby whereof is hereby acknowledged have given granted bargained and sold by these persons do give grant bargain and sell and convey unto the said James M. Corns the undivided half of a tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the County of Wayne and State of Virginia on the east side of 12 Pole river. Beginning at a dogwood corner in a low gap of one of Duvals and corners thence running with Rueben Adkins supposed line to a white oak and gum marked on the bank of 12 Pole river just below the mouth of the first branch above the said improvement thence running with meanders of 12 Pole until the said Duvals line crosses the 12 Pole thence until the said line to the beginning supposed to contain one hundred acres to be the same more or less. And the said James Corns Sr. covenants with the said James M. Corns to warrant generally the undivided tract of land hereby conveys. Witness the following signatures and seal. Wheeler a Notary Public for the County aforesaid and the State of Virginia do hereby certify that James Corns Sr. who signature appears to the foregoing deed dated Jany 15-1861 has acknowledged the same before me in my County aforesaid. And I do further certify that Jane S. Corns the wife of James Corns Sr. personally appeared before me in my County aforesaid and being examined by me privily and apart from her said husband and having the writing fully executed the same and does not wish to extract it.
