Booth/Corns Deed, 1885 HURSTON BOOTH & wife To DEED JAMES CORNS Sr This Deed made and entered into this 29th day of October 1885 by and between Hurston Booth and Hannah M. his wife of the first part and James Corns Sr. of the second part all of the County of Wayne and State of West Virginia. Witnesseths that for and in Considerations of Three hundred Dollars ($300.00) in hand paid to the party of the first part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged they have this day bargained and sold and by these presents doth sell and convey unto James Corns Sr. the party of the second part a certain tract or parcel of land situated in Wayne Co., W VA and on the waters of Bloss branch and Big Creek and joins the lands of James Ward and is bounded as follow Viz Beginning at a white oak on top of the dividing ridge thence N75 E 62 poles to a black Gum N 42 (?) W 36 poles to 2 small bushes S 62' W 31 poles to 3 small hickories thence N89 degrees W 60 poles to a white oak bush near the corner of the field thence S34 W 13 poles to a double chestnut oak on the old line thence with said line S 7 degrees E 28 poles to a white oak S66 E 23 poles to two white oaks N43 E 16 poles to Ash N 4 degrees W 30 poles to the Beginning Continuing 80 acres supposed to be the same more or less with all its appentenances thereto belonging unto the said James Corns his heirs and assigns forever and the said parties covenant to warrant specially the titles of the titles to the aforesaid land. Booth his wife whose names are signed to the foregoing Deed bearing date Oct 29th 1885 personally appeared before me in my said County and State and each adknowledged the same and I further certify that Hannah M. Booth wife of the said Hurston Booth after having been examined by me privily and apart from her said husband and hearing the Deed read & explained to her she the said Hannah M. Booth acknowledged the same and disclosed that she had willingly executed the same and did not wish to retract it. Given under my hand this 29th day of Oct 1885.
