45 BATTALION VA INF, CONFEDERATE Wayne Co. WV Quite a few enlisted into the 45 Battalion VA INF (not to be confused with 45 VA INF) after the Virginia State Line disbanded in 1863. Men between 18 and 45 who did not volutarily enlist into a Confederate unit after the VSL's disbandment were subject to conscription, but very few Wayne men were ever conscripted. All engagements from 15 Apr 1863--12 Apr 1864 occurred in Boone, Logan, Wayne, and Wyoming counties in WV and in Pike Co., KY. From 9 May 1864--1 Apr 1865, engagements included Cloyd's Mountain, VA; Piedmont, VA; Kernstown, VA; Wyoming Co., WV; Winchester, VA; Harrisonburg, VA; Cedar Creek, VA; Cabell County, WV; Waynesboro, VA; and Fayetteville, WV.
