BURGLAR SHOT AND KILLED AT C. W. FERGUSON'S STORE Wayne Co. WV Submitted by June White At Elmwood in Wayne County Sunday night, a burglar, John Mahan, was shot and killed while trying to enter the store of C. W. Ferguson. The sons of Mr. Ferguson had at different times of late suspected that someone had a duplicate key to a side door and that great quantities of goods were being carried away. Finally they arranged a double-barrel shotgun loaded with slugs in such a manner that when the door was opened the gun would be discharged. Just after midnight the report of a gun was heard, and when investigation was made the dead body of Mahon was found.
