He was born at Pittsburgh, July 4, 1839. Mr. Butler served in the Union Army during the Civil War from 1861-1865. He fought in the battles of Gettysburg, Bull Run, and other important engagements. He is survived by his wife (Nancy Ann Yoho), three sons: S. C., J. Q., and Henry Earl Butler, of Farr, WV. And four daughters: Mrs. Luella Cozart; Mrs. Marion Smith, of Proctor; Mrs. J. H. Mason, of Maud; and Mrs. C. M. Burgess of Reader. Funeral services were held at his home on Friday afternoon, November 13th, conducted by Rev. A. E. Wickham of Jacksonburg, and burial was made in the Fox Cemetery.
