April 19, 1849; d. May 24, 1940) Isaac Worthington Johnston, age 91, the last Civil War Veteran of Wetzel County died at the home of his grandson, L. E. Johnston on Jefferson Street, New Martinsville. [May 24, 1940]. He was a son of Jacob Johnston and Harriet Smith, born at Mannington, Marion County, WV April 19, 1849. The funeral will be in the Allen Church at Mobley by Rev. R. H. Seabough of the First Baptist Church in New Martinsville. Mr. Johnston was an active member of the Baptist Church of Kingtown. He leaves one son, Jacob E. Johnston of Mobley; a step-daughter, Mrs. Ella Brant of Wallace; one brother Felix Johnston of Martin's Ferry, Ohio and one sister Harriet Chamberland of Railing, Ohio. There were several grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren.
