Unknown cemetery on Weekly Ridge in Slate District, Wood County, WV Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Margaret Hopkins Grim =============================================================================== Cemetery is located on Weekly Ridge off Chesterville Road near Bogal Ridge Road. From Rt 14 at Bonnivale turn Rt. on Chesterville road, when you come to the T at the white church on the left, turn Left. You will come to an intersection with Bogal Ridge road continue 1/2 mile and there is a paintball business on the right with parking. Walk or 4 wheel drive from this point. At intersection turn left. From the parking lot it is approximately 1.5 mile on the left of Weekly Ridge Road. There are no signs. Many of the headstones are gone, broken or worn away. Those readable were as follows: Thomas B. a son of John & Edith Hopkins Born Feb. 5, 1830 Died Aug 10, 1897 Old Soldier Co. F. 11th W. Va. Infantry. Another stone depicting same person reads Corpl. Thos. B. Hopkins Co. F. 11th W. Va. Inf. Almeda Dau. of G O & Lilly C. Hopkins Born Nov 3, 1893 Died Mar 2, 1895 Annie M. Dau of F.F. & Ida M. Weekly Born Oct 8, 1887 Died (Unreadable) Also a footstone with A.M.W. Bertha Alice Hopkins Died March 24, 1888 Aged 13 ys 2 Mos. 22 Ds. Also with a footstone B.A.H. Albert Son of C.W. & I.B. King Oct 11, 1880 Dec 10, 1892 Mary A. Wife of C.H. Brand May 18, 1852 April 30, 1889 James Blaine Son of G. R. & S. J. Marshall June 28, 1892 Oct. 2, 1892 (with a small verse underneath, unreadable) Also a footstone with J. M. Sarah I. Dau of G. O. & Mary C. Hopkins Born Sept 24, 1880 Died Aug 6, 1881 Children of J.P. & Emma Goudy (There were 3 small stones with the larger one with no writing on them) There was a casket the dirt had wash off of at one end, but there was no stone that I could find. I was told that Martha Ann (Hopkins)Bolles, Goudy had been buried in this place also, but could not find her marker. In the court records, Thomas B. Hopkins was supposed to have been buried at Salisbury, Wood County, WV. Which I have found no maps giving the name of the area.
