The Parkersburg News June 24, 1998 KIMBLE, William F. 68, of Tallahassee, FL, died 6/19/98 at West Minister Oaks, Tallahassee. He was born in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. He grew up in WV. In 1950 he married Jane Alice Jackson of Parkersburg. He supported his family as a welder, eventually moving to FL, working at the Kennedy Space Center. While his family was young, he was active in the Boy Scouts, was a volunteer fireman, square danced and enjoyed producing amateur artwork. When the Space Center began making employee cutbacks, he was offered a position of welding instructor in Perry, FL. There he established the welding program for the vocational school, concurrently earning his masters degree from FL State U. During his Perry years, he influenced many lives for Christ. He and his wife hosted home Bible studies that attracted many young people. He was also active in the lives of his fellow church members. In 1982, he moved to Orlando to continue his teaching career at the Mid-FLorida Technical Vocational School. For several years he was in charge of Martin-Marietta's welding certification program. He also served as a consultant for Disney World. He retired in 1993. Failing health necessitated a move to Mulberry Place, an assisted living facility in Thomasville, GA and eventually to Westminister Oaks in Tallahassee. Survivors include his wife, Jane Alice Jackson Kimble; one son, Dan Kimble of Tallahassee; two daughters, Karen Horne of Tallahassee and Mary Farmer of Thomasville; one sister, Rose Moore of Mason, OH; and 6 grandchildren. Miss Reata Hutchinson Laird, 76, of 940 Avery St., a member of a very prominent family of Parkersburg, died at the home of her cousin, Miss Mable Hutchinson at 12:50 a. m. this morning. She was born in Parkersburg, May 12, 1881, a daughter of the late Alexander and Jeanette Hutchinson Laird and had lived her entire life in Parkersburg. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Pioneer Daughters, the YWCA, and of the Marietta Chapter of Mayflower Descendants. The city of Parkersburg bears the names of six family members on streets within the city. They are Laird, Hutchinson, Williams, Jeanette, Mary and Tefft.Survivors include one nephew, Richard H. Laird, Cleveland, and two great nephews; Richard H. Laird Jr., Orange, Tex., and Robert Laird of Dayton; and several cousins. Parkersburg News Jan 27, 1960 O`BRIEN, Mrs. We learn through the Richmond papers of the recent death of Mrs. O`Brien, mother of MJ. and W.S. O`Brien of Volcano, in this county. Mrs. O`Brien had a large circle of friends in this vicinity, having formerly resided at Burning Springs and in this city. Her sons received tidings of her serious illness by telegraph, and started immediately to Richmond, arriving just in time to receive her dying benedictions. Mrs. O`Brien was a woman of many excellant virtues, a noble christian mother, and her death will be mourned by all who knew her.
