Jackson Farley Grant, 1853 Joseph Johnson, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia; To all to whom these presents shall come--Greetings: Know ye that in conformity with a survey made on the fourth day of August One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Three by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrant, No.s 19764 and 21476 there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto JACKSON FARLEY a certain tract or parcel of land containing eighty acres lying in Wyoming County in the Gulf Fork of Rockcastle Creek of the Big Fork of the Guyandotte River, and bounded as follows, viz. Beginning at a double maple and spruce pines near the Gulf Fork of Rockcastle, thence South 53 degrees West 72 poles to a white oak on the top of the Gulf Fork ridge, North 48 degrees West 78 poles to a chestnut oak and service(?) on the top of a point of Main Rockcastle, due North 42 poles to a chestnut oak on the top of a point, North 32 degrees East 56 poles to a white oak on the Mill Branch of Rockcastle, North 79 degrees East 20 poles to a spruce pine in the Mill Branch, a corner of the survey made for JOSEPH FARLEY, therewith the lines of the same, South 52 degrees East 74 poles to a poplar and birch on the hill side. Thence East 5 degrees West 72 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtances to the said JACKSON FARLEY and his heirs forever. In witness, the said Joseph Johnson, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the first day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Four and of the Commonwealth the twenty eighth.
