Madison Farley Grant, 1852 Joseph Johnson Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia; to all to whom these presents shall come---Greetings: Know ye that in conformity with a survey made on the fourth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and fifty two--by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrant No. 19876 and 20511-- there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto MADISON FARLEY a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and ninety acres, lying in Wyoming County on the Lick Branch of Indian Creek of the Big fork of Guyandotte River, and bounded as followeth, viz: Beginning at a dogwood and beech on the fork of said branch, N45 degrees E 186 poles to 2 beeches, N70 degrees E 46 poles to 2 beeches, S71 East 126 poles to a sugar tree and dogwood, N88 E 132 poles to 2 chestnut oaks on the top of the ridge, N24 W 88 poles to a black gum and dogwood and white oak near the Bear Wallow in the head of said branch, N70 W 41 poles to a chestnut oak and dogwood, S76 W 290 poles to a water oak and chestnut oak on the top of the ridge between said Lick Branch and Wolfpen Branch, S50 W 100 poles to 2 black walnuts, S64 E 60 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said MADISON FARLEY and his heirs forever. In witness whereon, the said Joseph Johnson Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the first day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three and of the Commonwealth the seventy eighth.
