Carlie had an older brother, Andrew (b Nov 1882 Germany, d July 1951 California) and an older sister Agnes (b May 1885 Germany, d July 1959 Wyoming), besides 3 infant siblings. Living in South Dakota was a struggle due to the depression and a severe drought. So the family decided to move west by covered wagon in 1895. They traveled in a party with the Jons family and stopped often along the trip west, finally arriving at Rawlins, Wyoming. Talk of a canal being built from Dixon to Dry Gulch, sixty miles south of Rawlins sounded like an opportunity for Carlie's Dad to earn money so the family moved into a rented house at Baggs, Wyoming. The Jebens' children walked to Baggs, Wyoming to attend school, about 4 miles from town. Their father filed to purchase land which was named appropriately, Four Mile Ranch. Found in the 1900 census living at Election Dist # 15 Carbon, Wyoming: Ferdinand James 42 (should be Jebens), Margarite M James 41, Andrew A James 17, Agnes M D James 15, Carlie (Carl) 10. Carlie worked on the ranch until he reached the age of 10 when he was given a team of horses and wagon and began hauling freight from Rawlins to Baggs. As a young man, he had many different jobs. On January 21, 1909, Carlie marr​ied Anna E. Milliken at Shoshone, ​Lincoln, Idaho (Anna b October 1887 Carbon, WY, d 1918 rural Baggs, Carbon, WY). The couple had 5 daug​hters who were all born at 4 Mile Rance: Margaret C (b January 22 1909, d November 16, 1998 Rawlins, Carbon, WY); Marion E (b 1909); Mildred J (b July 5, 1910, d August 1994 Sinclair, Carbon, WY); Faye (b February 24, 1917, d July 1984 Denver, Colorado, twin) and Ferne C (b February 24, 1917, d December 19, 1993 Rawlins, Carbon, WY, twin). Family found in the 1910 census at Snake River, Carbon, Wyoming: Carl Ferdinand Jebens 21, Anna E Milliken Jebens 21, Margaret Jebens 1 yr 4 mos, Paul R Davis 22 ranch hand. Says Carlie is a merchant who owns a store iin Baggs ( bought from his brother Andrew Jebens). Found in the 1920 census living at Election District # 14, Carbon, Wyoming, next to Andrew, his brother: Carley F Jebens 34, widowed, Mary E Jebens 11. (Carlie's other daughters were attending a private school in Denver, Colorado) After Anna's death in 1918, Carlie married Edna M Gideon in 1925. (Edna b Jun 1897 Wyoming). Found in the 1930 census at Baggs, Carbon, Wyoming, still at 4 Mile Ranch: Carl F Jebern 41 (should be Jebens), Edna M Jebern 32, Marion Jebern 18, Fern Jebern 13, Fay Jebern 13, Grant M Harrison 7 10/12, Herman Klinker 26, Edward Klinker 24, (Herman and Ed are Hans & Emma Klinker's sons, came out from Pipestone, MN to work, they were Carlie's first cousins, their mothers were sisters) Joseph A Larsen 48 (hired hand). Carlie and Edna had one son, Carlie George Jebens (b September 21, 1931 Carbon, WY, d May 15, 2002 New Braunfels, Comal, Texas). The marriage did not work out and the couple divorced. Carlie married a third time to Miss ​Helen Thomas between 1931-1935. The couple had 2 children: a son, Dennis Vernon Jebens (b1935 at 4 Mile Ranch, d July 1950 by drowning in the Snake River, Carbon, WY) and a​ daughter Catherine Margaret Jebens (b June 26, 1937 at 4 Mile Ranch). Found in the 1940 census at 4-29A, Snake River, Carbon, Wyoming: CF Jebens age 51, male, married, born in South Dakota, farmer.; Helen age 36, Wife, born in Washington; Dennis J, son, age 5 born in Wyoming; Katherine M, daughter, age 3, born in Wyoming. Carlie had a very rich and busy life and was instrumental in helping the Baggs, Wyoming area progress. In 1958, Carlie and Helen sold out parcels of the ranch to TV's Jack Benny, Mandy Spiegel of Spiegel catalogue, Julie Stein of RCA and Paul Manhiam, who is with Leham Brothers Wall Street Brokerage of New York. In 1959, Carlie and Helen bought a winter home in Tempe, Arizona, where they spend six months out of each year and maintain a summer home near Baggs. Carlie F Jebens died July 1, 1​976 at Tempe Maricopa, Arizona and was buried at the Rawlins Cemetery, Rawlins, Carbon, Wyoming. Find a Grave Memorial #88157441.
