Dora K Knuth was born February 1, 1899 at Baggs, Carbon, Wyoming to John F 
Knuth (b February 1864 Pomerania, Germany, d July 14, 1946 Trosky, Pipestone, 
Minnesota) and Margaret Haddie Klinker (b June 11, 1872 Kurburg, Schleiswig-
Holstein, Germany, d June 17, 1945 Trosky, Pipestone, Minnesota), the third of 
their five children. 

Family found in the 1900 census living at Four Mile, Routt, Colorado: John 
Knuth 36, Margaret M Knuth 27, Grover Knuth 5, Willie Knuth 3, Dora Knuth 1; 
says she was born in Colorado.

Her parents moved east to Minnesota before 1910. 

Found in the 1910 census at Goose Prairie, Clay, MN: John J F Knut 46, Margret 
M Knut 38, Grover F Knut 16, Villey Knut Jr. 14, Dora C Knut 12, Johnny C Knut 
7, Walter E Knut 5. 

Found in the 1920 census at Verdi, Lincoln, MN: Grover Knuth 25, Willie J Knuth 
22, Dora K Knuth 21, John K Knuth 16, Walter D Knuth 14, Clara M Knuth 25, John 
W Knuth 1 yr 2 mos.

Dora married William Herman Higel between 1920-1923 at Minnesota. (William b 
May 2, 1892 Algoma, Winnebago, Wisconsin, d June 12, 1986 Monrovia, Los 
Angeles, California) 

The couple had 1 daughter, Gloria Margarite Higel (b August 18, 1923 Lincoln, 
Minnesota, d May 20, 2008 Monrovia, Los Angeles, California.)

Found in the 1930 census living at Elmer township, Pipestone, Minnesota: John 
Knuth 66, Margaret Knuth 58, Dora Higel 31, Gloria Higel 6 yrs 7 mos ( 
daughter), no mention of William Higel.

Found in the 1940 census at Upland, San Bernardino, California: William Higel 
47, Dora Higel 42, Gloria Higel 16, working at a cafe. 

Dora K Higel died September 16, 1943 at San Bernardino, California and was 
buried at the Bellevue Cemetery, Ontario, San Bernardino, California.
