Dennis has a younger sister, Catherine; 5 half-sisters and 1 half-brother. (His father Carlie was married three times) Found in the 1940 census living at 4 Mile Ranch at 4-29A, Snake River, Carbon, Wyoming: CF Jebens age 51, male, married, born in South Dakota, farmer.; Helen age 36, Wife, born in Washington; Dennis J, son, age 5 born in Wyoming; Katherine M, daughter, age 3, born in Wyoming. Dennis died in an accidental drowning while wading in the Snake River on July 18, 1950. and was buried at the Rawlins City Cemetery, Rawlins, Carbon, Wyoming. Greeley Daily Tribune, Greeley, Colorado, July 19, 1950: Dennis Vernon Jebens, 15, of Baggs, WY, drowned Sunday, July 18th, while wading in the Snake river in southern Carbon County, WY with a friend. He couldn't swim and while wading with his friend, he stepped off in to a 10-18 ft hole, His friend had to shake him off to avoid drowning also. The friend then ran 1 1/2 miles to the Jebens ranch for help. Men searched the water about 4 hours with weighted hay rakes before they finally recovered the body.
