Like her brother Ferdinand Augustus Jebens, Sophia emigrated to America. Origin Prussia; Last Residence Schleswig-Holstein, Germany; Destination Kutten; Plan Unknown; Ship name: Polaria; Captain: Schmidt; Shipping Line: Edward Carr ; Ship Type: Dampfschiff; Accommodation: Zwischendeck; Ship Flag: Deutschland. Sophia traveled west to Huron, Beadle, South Dakota where relatives lived and soon left in a wagon train to Wyoming, stopping at Rawlins and settling at Baggs, WY. Sophia married Peter Lee Jons (b October 24, 1868 Schleiswig/Holstein, Germany, d August 18, 1947 Hayden, Routt, Colorado) on February 27, 1896 at Rawlins, Carbon, Wyoming. The couple had 3 children (all born near Baggs, Carbon, WY): Mary (b February 1897, d October 27, 1901 Baggs, Carbon, WY); Andrew (b June 1, 1898, d April 27,1899 Baggs, WY) and Walter E (b October 22, 1900, he later changed his name to Jones). Found in the 1900 census living at Election District # 15, Baggs, Carbon, Wyoming: Peter Jons 31, Sophia Jons 32, Mary Jons 3. Sophia Jebens Jons died December 1, 1900 at Carbon, Wyoming from complications of childbirth and was buried at the Rawlins Cemetery, Rawlins, Carbon, Wyoming. Find a Grave Memorial #31261818. Additional Comments: Sophia's spouse, Peter Jons married 2 more times and had 9 more children; altogether he had 12 children. His second wife was Mary Mathilda Lemoine, they married August 15, 1903 at Rawlins, WY. His third wife was Elsie Maud Adams whom he married on November 20, 1917.
