The boy was crushed to death and Wilson was so badly torn and bitten that he died soon after being rescued by other travelers. the bear was supposed to be one of the number of tame animals kept in the park, and they fired a shot at it. The animal became infuriated and atacked the boy,killnig him. Wilson went to his nephew's rescue and was hinself fatally hurt.
