John Blair was born March 12, 1852 at Ottawa, Upper Canada Village, Ontario, 
Canada to Duncan Blair and Elizabeth McLachlan (couple born in Scotland, 
emigrated to Canada 1844). John had five older siblings: Duncan, Archibald, 
Elizabeth, Anna, and Alexander. 
John can be found in the 1861 census at Mosa, Middlesex, Canada West living 
with his parents: Duncan Blair age 61, Elizabeth age 56, Alex age 15, Ann age 
18, John age 9 (born in Upper Canada) (others born in Scotland). 

John emigrated from Canada to Rock Springs, Sweetwater, Wyoming to join his 
brothers who were ranching about 1869/1870. 
He is found in the 1870 census at Rock Springs, Sweetwater, Wyoming: Archibald 
Blair 33, Jane M Blair 27, Duncan Blair 35, John Blair 19, Emma 30, John 2. 
Believe Emma and John age 2 are Indians, Emma is Duncan's wife.

Found in the June 10, 1880 census at District # 8, Pretty Water, Sweetwater, 
Wyoming: John Blair 31, Frank Wright 28. John is single, white, stock grower. 
Only 2 people in the district, Frank was working as a herder for John.

John returned to Canada and married Charlotte Ann McCready on December 1, 1885 
at Lambton, Ontario, Canada.
(Charlotte Ann McCready born May 15, 1856 Lambton, Ontario, Canada to James 
McCready and Ann King, died March 1, 1925 Rock Springs, WY). 
The newlyweds returned to Rock Springs, Wyoming to live on John's ranch. 

They had 4 children: 
1. Martha Blair (born 1885 Rock Springs, Sweetwater, Wyoming, died April 5, 
1926 (1900 census says born Jan 1892)); 
2. Thomas M Blair (born and died 1886 at Blairtown, WY); 
3. John Blair Jr. (born December 5, 1887 Rock Springs, Sweetwater, WY, died 
October 2, 1943 Sheridan, WY) and 
4. Edmund B. Blair (born December 12, 1889 Rock Springs, WY, died September 5, 
1974 Gresham, Multnomah, Oregon, married Bernice Mardian 1902 - 1949, 2 sons; 
married Clara Jennifer Hays 1932 - 1968.)

John, Charlotte and family found in the 1900, 1910, 1920 censuses at District 
55, Southside, Sweetwater, Wyoming: 
1900: John raises stock, naturalized. John Blair 48, Charlotte Blair 44, John 
Blair 12, Edmund B Blair 10, Martha A. 8 (born January 1892), 
1910: John Blair 58, Charlet Blair 54, John Blair 22, Edmond Blair 20, Martha 
Blair 18. 
1920: John Blair 67, Charlotte A Blair 63, John Blair 32, Edmund B Blair 30. 

John Blair died August 25, 1926 at Rock Springs, Sweetwater, Wyoming. 

Additional Comments:
Contributor is not related to John Blair. Censuses were transcribed as found, 
obvious spelling errors were not corrected.
