First I will all my property to my wife Susannah Barnhill during her widowhood and natural life. Second - It is my will and devise that my property at the death of my wife be divided as follows, I give unto my son Marcus P.D. Barnhill my servant girl America and her children if any and my servant boy Willis and the remainder of the time of Maria (who is to be free at twenty one years) should she not be 21 at the death of my wife, also two beds, two cows and two horses, also forty seven acres of land more or less being the same I got from Pettits estate or the proceeds of said land should I sell or exchange that land for other property. A Allow my wife and son Marcus to exchange said land or see it at pleasure. Third - It is my will an devise that the farm of ninety acres more or less on which I reside be sold at public action at the death of my wife and the proceeds of said sale be equally divided amongst my five children to wit, Samuel Barnhill, Jr., Nancy Wiggins, Calton Barnhill, Cynthia Powell, and Marcus P.D. Barnhill and also all the other personal property to be sold and divided in like manner at the death of my wife. I hereby appoint my son Marcus P.D. Barnhill my executor to execute this, my last will and testament Given under my hand this 6th day of December in the year of our Lord 1845 Attest: C.A.
